One for the road to 2016

It is that time of the year when the market for most industry slows down. I have never worked a day after the 2nd week in December for the last eight years. However, this year I will be home, working through the holiday season.

Generally, one third of the people out there are already off for their much deserved vacations, another one third, will be rushing all sorts trying to tie up all loose ends before the New Year. We are left with that one third who is figuring out what is next – market is slow, hasn’t got much to do and probably have caught up with all prospects and clients and even pass them the Christmas gifts.

What now? Regroup, reorganise, recharge – that is what I will do. It is the holiday season where most of us spring clean our homes. Despite it will probably send you feeling shattered, the satisfaction of a clean home gives you that feeling of starting afresh especially for the New Year. It works the same for your workspace, make it conducive.

Try the 5S system. It is a work place organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke. The cycle describes how to organize a work place for efficiency and effectiveness.

The image pretty much tells you all you need to do. So what are you waiting for? Get going. Clear out all that junk from this year, the unwanted documents to shred, arrange everything in your pedestal, and put a 2016 calendar on your work desk.

Start the New Year feeling good and hopefully, we are able sustain the conducive environment. Remember, habits are actions and behavior done regularly over a period of time that it becomes second nature.

2015 is coming to an end. We live, we learn. Take everything with a pinch of salt. Let’s start 2016 in a more conducive environment and feeling fresh. Here is a toast to all my fellow sales professionals – May 2016 be filled with more joy, laughter and closing.
